Television actress Manya Anand, known for her role in Sun TV’s Vanathai Pola, recently found herself at the centre of a controversy after speaking about a casting couch incident involving a person claiming to be Dhanush’s manager, Sreyas. Following widespread speculation and misleading reports, Manya issued a clarification on Instagram. In an earlier interview Manya described how a man claiming to be Sreyas contacted her about a new film associated with Dhanush. She alleged that he repeatedly hinted at ‘adjustment.’
Manya Anand wrote, “Hi all this is regarding my recent interview with Cineulagam (link mentioned). I noticed that several channels are spreading wrong information about Dhanush sir based on that interview. Please watch the original video where I clearly mentioned that the person who contacted may be a fake person claiming to be Shreyas and asking for movies. I also said that I would be sharing that number with Dhanush sir's team to get it clarified. I kindly request everyone not to spread false news. Please refer to the original video before drawing conclusions. Thank you.” Her statement makes it clear that she suspects the person who contacted her may have been an impersonator, and she has urged everyone to verify facts before reacting.

In her interview with Cineulagam, Manya said the she was asked to make adhustements. Quoting the person Manya stated, "There is commitment (adjustment)." Manya responded firmly, asking, "What commitment? Why should I give commitment?" and said she declined the offer immediately. She also stated that the caller sent the location of Dhanush’s production house, Wunderbar Films, and insisted she meet him there. Manya emphasised that she wanted no part in a project that demanded such unethical conditions and expressed concern about similar incidents happening to other artists.

Meanwhile, Manya further shared that she initially refused, the caller persisted and asked, "You will not comply even if it's Dhanush sir?" She stood her ground, rejecting his advances and reinforcing her boundaries. According to her, the man continued to message her, forwarded a script, and pushed for a meeting. When asked about the script, she stated, "No, I did not read it. I am not doing the film." She strongly believed that artists should be valued for their talent alone. As she added, "We're artists. We are doing some other work. You take work from us but don't expect something else in return… I think it'd be better if people recognised this pattern and sorted it out." Her words highlighted the need for safer and more respectful work practices in the industry.

On the other hand, fans have responded to the controversy by pointing out that Sreyas had already warned the public about fake calls using his name. Back in February, he shared a message on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Hello, This is to bring to everyone's attention that any casting calls under my name or Wunderbar Films Pvt Ltd is absolutely false and baseless. +91 7598756841 is not my number and is being misused with my picture.” His earlier statement has now resurfaced, with many suggesting that Manya may have been targeted by the same impersonator. As the debate continues online, both Manya and Sreyas have urged people to avoid spreading misinformation and rely only on verified statements and official sources.
