Marry Reena Roy Right Now Or Else: When Shatrughan Sinha's Brother Issued Ultimatum While His Wife Poonam Was Pregnant With Twins

Shatrughan Sinha was already married to Poonam Sinha when the actor had an affair with actress Reena Roy, as quoted in his biography. In his book, the veteran actor was summoned to Reena’s house and asked to marry her. This happened after Dharmendra married Hema Malini, without leaving his first wife, Prakash Kaur. After that, Shatrughan Sinha’s brother also told him to marry Reena or else he would tell everyone about their affair. It was the time of 1983. At that time, Poonam was pregnant with twin son-Luv and Khush.

Recalling the episode in his biography, Shatrughan Sinha shared how his brother Ram instructed him to Reena’s home and upon arrival, “asked me point-blank to marry her, right there, right then.” Ram ‘had given his word to Reena’, leaving Shatrughan stunned. Ram also wrote a letter addressing every member of Sinha’s family and his close friend circle, outlining his entire relationship with Reena. He concluded the letter with the line, “… and so, he must marry Reena.”

When the letter came to Shatrugan’s secretary, Pawan Kumar, he acted upon it swiftly. At that time, Sinha was out of Mumbai. Pawan immediately informed him and his intervention which ultimately protected Sinha and Poonam’s marriage.

According to reports, Producer Pahlaj Nihalini once recalled how Reena Roy had also given a warning to Shatrughan Sinha to marry her or else she would get married to someone else in just eight days. She told Nihlani, “Tell your friend to make up his mind. If he gives me an answer, I'll do the next film with him. Otherwise, it's a 'No'. I've made up my mind that if he doesn't marry me, I'm going to get married in eight days.” As per the sources on Reddit, Nihlani said that after the success of the movie Haathkadi, he wanted to reunite with Shatrughan, Reena and Sanjeev Kumar for a new film. Reena Roy then declined his offer of the project.

When his biography Anything But Khamosh: The Shatrughan Sinha Biography was launched, Shatrughan Sinha told PTI, “The book has the summary of my life, from how I left home to study films at Pune, my struggle in the film industry, and then the girls who came into my life - the gharwali (wife) came and then baharwali (the other woman).”

The vetern actor then added, “I have done that without hurting anybody's dignity. There is no vulgarity or voyeurism in the book. I haven't mentioned about many girls in my life. They are settled, they have children. It's not the right thing to identify them.”
