The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, a Netflix series, promises a plethora of memorable cameos, breathtaking thrills, and an exciting journey into the world of Indian cinema by fusing self-aware comedy with a high-stakes plot. The web series, which debuted on September 18 and has been praised by many worldwide, suffered a small setback when Sameer Wankhede filed defamation lawsuits against the director. But why? Sameer Wankhede, a former official with the Narcotics Control Bureau, was drawn to a controverial scene in Aryan Khan's Netflix series Ba***ds Of Bollywood.

The actor, who portrays narcotics cop on The Ba***ds of Bollywood, shows up at a Bollywood party to arrest an actor who was not in possession of drug. Sameer Wankhede claimed the character is based on him. For more context, the show's writer and director Aryan Khan was arrested by Sameer Wankhede in 2021 on drug-related accusations. Who Is Ashish Kumar, Ba***ds Of Bollywood Actor?

Ashish Kumar appears as 'plain cloth cop' police officer in the closing credits in Aryan Khan's The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Not much is known about the actor who played the lookalike of Sameer Wankhede. He reportedly created his Instagram account on September 26, 2025.

Ashish Kumar thanked Aaryan Khan, Red Chillies, and the casting director for the part in two videos that he shared online. He clarified in another video that he had just recently started using social media and had replied to people who said he wasn't the same actor. Expressing gratitude on social media platform, he wrote, "Thankyou for all the love n support! Will definitely make more interesting videos soon! Watch The Ba***ds of Bollywood watch now on Netflix."

Ashish Kumar maintains a low profile on social media and currently has 1769 Instagram followers on Instagram.

Ashish Kumar's post on Instagram received immense love on social media from netizens. A user wrote, "Bollywood’s first nameless character who got even sued. That was amazing acting." Another user wrote, "Great job — small role, big impact." A third person said, "Your scene was amazing."

The show went viral immediately because viewers made the link on their own, even though it never explicitly said it was a parody or mocking of Sameer Wankhede.

The first episode of The Ba***ds of Bollywood contains the sequence to which Sameer Wankhede has protested. Many claim that a figure who resembled the police officer's showed up at a celebrity party to 'raid' and 'arrest' drug offenders.  The camera pans to the words 'non governmental' printed on the character's vehicle as he speaks 'Satyamev Jayate' upon arriving in the location.

The main cast of the show includes Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Lakshya, and Sahher Bambba. In the week of its debut, it was the fourth most-watched non-English Netflix series worldwide.
