MTV is originally an American cable channel that made its debut in the United States in 1981, with the song Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles. Later, the channel was launched in Europe and the UK. The decision to shut down certain MTV channels is a part of a broader cost-cutting strategy aimed at saving around USD 500 million globally, according to Paramount's global restructuring plan.
MTV India, however, is here to stay and enthral audiences, much to the relief of its loyal fans.
