Naseeruddin Shah stood up for singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh in the midst of the Sardaar Ji 3 controversy and his collaboration with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. The veteran actor has now deleted the post from his Facebook account in response to strong backlash. He wrote, "I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT. The dirty tricks deptt of Jumla Party has been awaiting a chance to attack him. They think they’ve got it at last. He was not responsible for the casting of the film, the director was. But no one knows who he is whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned."
Naseeruddin Shah added, "What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever i feel like it. And my response to those who will say Go to Pakistan is Go To Kailasa."

Naseeruddin Shah's Facebook post backing Diljit Dosanjh infurirated netizens. They dropped angry comments in the comment section. Once the post was deleted, many users trolled the veteran actor for his support to Pakistan. One of the users wrote, "So, Naseeruddin Shah has deleted his post. But he has deleted it only from the social media, not from his mind. He never supported Bharat, and he never will."
Another user wrote, "Naseeruddin Shah yapping about hugging Pakistan and mocking patriots — but the moment the heat turned up, he quietly deletes his post. Typical elite drama: spit venom for claps, then hide when the nation roars back."
A third person wrote, "You can delete posts, Naseer saab, but Bharat has seen your double face. Keep your love letters for Pakistan — we’ll keep our loyalty for Bharat Mata!"

Naseeruddin shah is Bitter, jealous, narrow minded, hypocrite Bigot, and a totally communal person. He is such a good actor but as a person he seems to be horrible.

Shame on Naseeruddin Shah for glorifying Pakistan while belittling India. If he finds their artistic freedom so inspiring, maybe he should try living there. Freedom of speech isn't a license to insult your own country. #NaseeruddinShah #Pakistan #disrespectful pic.twitter.com/qSzbeTh62h

It has been 26 years since the release of the film Sarfarosh but Naseeruddin Shah has still not come out of the character of Gulfam Hassan!!

I think people like Naseeruddin Shah should go & shettle in Pakistan. These kind of idiots are only bothering their films, they have nothing to do with the families who were killed by the terrorists who sponsors Pakistan. These kind of people have only@narendramodi@BJP4India pic.twitter.com/jKjbzRB6g7

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, president of the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA), was among many who took issue with his remarks. Pandit criticized Shah's word choice in a scathing reply to ANI. "We are not surprised, not shocked, by Naseeruddin Shah’s response to Diljit Dosanjh’s entire episode. He calls us the Jumla party, he calls us goons. The educated, versatile actor, senior person in the industry, calling us goons proves the frustration and kind of restlessness of Naseeruddin Shah."
Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji 3 Row
Following the release of the trailer on June 22, Diljit Dosanjh's Sardaar Ji 3 ran into issues when it was revealed that Pakistani actor Hania Aamir was present. Following the terror attack in Pahalgam, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) reaffirmed its ban on Pakistani performers performing in India. The publication of Fawad Khan's Abir Gulaal was delayed in May after the ban.
