Main Vaapas Aaunga is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 7, according to a report by Free Press Journal. The digital rights to the movie were purchased for Rs 30 crore. The collaboration has reportedly played a significant role in the movie's financial recovery.
What Is Main Vaapas Aaunga All About?
Main Vaapas Aaunga, which was set in two distinct timeframes, presented a tale influenced by love, memory, and the long-lasting effects of the 1947 Partition.
The narrative opened with an old guy suffering from dementia and yearning to go back to his childhood home in modern-day Pakistan. His grandson Nirvair Grewal, portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh, began to piece together the past to comprehend what his grandfather had been carrying for decades as bits and pieces of his memory gradually returned.
In the end, the journey revealed a very poignant 1947 romance between young lovers Jiya (played by Sharvari) and Keenu (played by Vedang Raina). Partition split their lives apart, leaving a tale of division that had an ongoing impact on future generations.
Main Vaapas Aaunga emphasised acceptance and emotional closure rather than building toward a traditional reunion. The narrative had an emotional conclusion as Keenu found serenity in his last moments after learning the truth about Jiya's life.

After its first week of release, Main Vaapas Aaunga's box office performance picked up pace. In the first week, it made Rs 12.25 crore. In the second week, its earnings nearly doubled to Rs 22.55 crore. The movie continued to do well in week three, bringing in Rs 17.45 crore, which was still more than its total from the first week.
Main Vaapas Aaunga made Rs 98.86 crore worldwide by the end of its 45-day theatrical run. It minted 1.48 million dollars and achieved hit status in North America, where it attracted a sizable footfall.
