Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi-starrer movie Bhool Chuk Maaf was all set to hit the theatres on May 8, 2025. However, recently, Maddock Films announced that due to the Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor and other events, makers announced that Bhool Chuk Maaf will get a direct OTT release. According to Bollywood Hungama, PVR Inox has decided to sue the production house for damages. Now, Bombay HC has put a hot on film’s OTT release until the matter is resolved.
PVR Inox took a legal action against Maddock Films over the film Bhool Chuk Maaf. This came after Maddock Films revoked their agreement with PVR Inox a day before the theatrical release. PVR Inox is seeking damages of ₹60 crore for non-playability of the film and claimed that 31 PVR theatres in Delhi had started promotional activities for the film.
On the other hand, Maddock Films claimed that the 8-week holdback period only applied if the film was released in cinemas. It also argued that they had the right to choose the release platform.
Bombay High Court granted ad-interim relief to PVR Inox, restraining Maddock Films from releasing Bhool Chuk Maaf on any platform until the expiry of the 8-week holdback period.
About the movie: Set in Varanasi, the film captures small-town romance. The story revolves around Ranjan, a hopeless romantic who secures a government job to marry his girlfriend, Titli Mishra. As they prepare for their wedding, a bizarre time loop occurs, with Titli being oblivious to it, repeatedly resetting the day to the Haldi ceremony, leaving Ranjan stuck in the frustrating world of a time loop.
The movie has been written and directed by Karan Sharma and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios. The film stars Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi and Seema Pahwa in lead roles.
