Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Remake: Celebrated filmmaker Karan Johar recently revealed who he would cast if his 1998 blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai were to be remade today. Nearly 25 years after the romantic drama became a cultural milestone, Karan surprised fans by naming a fresh lineup of stars and notably, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Katrina Kaif didn’t make the cut. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji, the 1998 film became a pop-culture phenomenon.
Speaking in a candid chat with Sania Mirza for Myntra’s Glam Stream, Karan picked Alia Bhatt as the modern-day Anjali, Ranveer Singh as Rahul, and Ananya Panday as Tina. He also hinted that Janhvi Kapoor or Sara Ali Khan could easily fit into Tina’s role, cheekily calling them the “younger nepo babies” of Bollywood. During the conversation, the filmmaker addressed the ever-discussed topic of nepotism. Clarifying his stance, Karan said, “I know they’re nepo babies. I’ve seen them grow up in front of me, but none of their parents have ever called me. I have always been the one to call.”

Reflecting on Dharma Productions’ journey, Karan recalled how Kuch Kuch Hota Hai transformed the banner’s fortunes. He shared that after films like Dostana (1980) and Agneepath faced ups and downs, KKHH marked a turning point for the studio, cementing it as a leading Bollywood powerhouse valued at over Rs 2,000 crore today.
