Bindusagar is one of the anticipated films of the year, which is set to make it to a global stage. The Odia film is set to premiere at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025. The film festival is scheduled to take place from November 20 to 28 in Panji, Goa. Notably, Bindusagar is to premiere as part of the Gala Presentation at the film festival, which marks a significant milestone in the Odisha film industry.
What Is Bindusagar All About?
The movie is about the journey of a young woman who tries to reconnect with her roots. Her life takes a different turn when she crosses paths with a grieving father, who searches for faith. They meet in Bhubaneshwar. The film is rooted in Odia culture and explores the themes of love, loss, healing and belonging. Bindusagar has eight original songs. It stars Prakruti Mishra, Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Sonalli Sharmisstha and Satya Ranjan, Sukant Rath, Robin Das and Pranab Rath in key roles. The cinematography of the film has been done by Deepak Kumar, who earlier worked on the National Award-winning Odia film Pratikshya, and by Bishwajeet Pattnaik. Bindusagar has been written by Abhishek Das and directed by Abhishek Swain. The film has been backed by Shiladitya Bora’s Platoon One Films, along with Vinay Reddy and Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharjee’s Boundless Blackbuck Films, in association with Nikhil Chaudhary of MDC Filmworks.
While sharing the news of the film being selected at the 56th International Film Festival of India, Prakruti Mishra wrote on Instagram, “Bindusagar- one of the most awaited Odia films is set for its World Premiere at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa! A heartfelt story of love, loss, and rediscovery, Bindusagar celebrates the soul of Odisha on a global stage.
