Pankaj Dheer Funeral: Veteran actor Pankaj Dheer, best remembered for his iconic portrayal of Karna in B.R. Chopra’s 1988 television epic Mahabharat, passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with cancer. He was 68. His funeral took place in Mumbai on October 15, 2025, where several film and television personalities gathered to pay their final respects to the beloved actor. Among the many who attended was Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who arrived to offer condolences to the grieving Dheer family. 

In a viral clip, Salman Khan looked visibly emotional as he greeted and hugged Pankaj Dheer’s son, Nikitin Dheer, and other family members. Videos from the funeral showed Salman being escorted by security as he made his way through the crowd to pay his last respects. Fans and industry colleagues were moved by Salman’s gesture, recalling his bond with Pankaj Dheer, with whom he worked in the 2002 film Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge. Many praised Salman for standing by the Dheer family in their time of loss.

Meanwhile, an official statement from CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes’ Association) confirmed the sad news, “With profound grief and deep sorrow, we inform you of the passing of our Trust’s erstwhile Chairman and CINTAA's former Hon. General Secretary, Shri Pankaj Dheer ji, on 15th October 2025. The cremation will be held today at 4:30 pm next to Pawan Hans, Vile Parle (W), Mumbai.” Pankaj Dheer became a household name with Mahabharat, where his performance as Karna earned immense love and respect. He later starred in several popular television shows including Chandrakanta, The Great Maratha, Yug, and Kanoon.

Apart from television, Pankaj also had a successful career in films, appearing in movies like Sanam Bewafa, Baadshah, and Sasural Simar Ka. He also turned director with My Father Godfather and founded the Abhinay Acting Academy, nurturing young acting talent. His passing marks the end of an era for Indian entertainment. He is survived by his wife, Anita Dheer, and son Nikitin Dheer, who is also an actor. As family, friends, and fans gathered to bid farewell, the memories of his legendary roles and humble nature continue to live on in the hearts of millions.
