They Call Him OG, also known as OG, has turned into one of the biggest hits of the year. Directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Danayya under DVV Entertainment, the gangster drama stars Pawan Kalyan in the lead role and marks the Telugu debut of Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi. The film also features Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, Prakash Raj, Sriya Reddy, Harish Uthaman and several others in important roles. Released on 25th September, the movie has been enjoying steady collections even in its second week. Now, fans have more reason to celebrate. At the film’s success meet in Hyderabad, Pawan Kalyan announced that OG will have both a prequel and a sequel, officially expanding the movie into a franchise.
During the event, Pawan Kalyan thanked audiences for the overwhelming support and shared how much the project meant to him. Reflecting on how OG came about, he said, “It is easy to write a story, but very difficult to bring it to life on screen. In fact, I myself was not aware of the full OG story. I met Trivikram when Sujeeth’s name came up, and Sujeeth told me, ‘You will be a gangster in Japanese attire, holding a sword and carrying a gun.’ At first, I did not fully understand it. But when I saw my son reading Sujeeth’s notes with excitement, I realised this story has relevance for today’s generation.” He further added, “So I confirm that we will work on a sequel and a prequel to OG. I know how frustrating it can be when a film fails, but OG has restored my motivation to make more films. I want to continue the OG world in the time I get.”
Telugu movie They Call Him OG’s strong performance has made it one of the standout successes of 2025.
