Puja Banerjee and her husband, Kunal Verma have been accused by Malabika Dey of kidnapping and extorting lakhs from her husband, Bengali movie producer Shyam Sunder Dey. According to Malabika, Puja Banerjee, Kunal Verma, and their associate Piyush Kothari intercepted Shyam's car in Goa, forcibly took him to an undisclosed location, and held him captive for four days. An FIR has been lodged against Puja Banerjee, Kunal Verma, and Piyush Kothari. 

Malabika Dey alleged that her husband Shyam Sunder Dey was physically assaulted, filmed under duress, and threatened with false implication in a narcotics case if he didn't pay Rs 64 lakh. Under pressure, Shyam transferred Rs 23 lakh, including payments to Puja's assistant in Kolkata and RTGS transactions to Puja and Kunal's accounts. Malabika Dey shared copies of FIRs, payment slips, and WhatsApp screenshots to support her allegations. The Goa Police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway following Shyam's rescue.

Recently, Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma opened up about being scammed by a 'close friend' and starting from zero. However, the allegations made by Malabika Dey paint a different picture, suggesting that the couple was involved in the kidnapping and extortion. The charges listed by Goa Police against the couple includes — Sections 126(2), 137(2), 140(2), 308(2), 115(2), 351(3), 61(2), and 3(5) which cover serious offenses such as abduction, unlawful confinement, extortion, criminal threats, and conspiracy.

Meanwhile, Shyam Sunder Dey is a renowned Bengali film producer with over 60 movies to his credit. His wife's allegations have sparked a controversy, with many taking to social media to express their shock and support for the producer. The Goa Police are investigating the allegations, and the case is ongoing. As more information comes to light, Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma's fans are shocked by the allegations, and the couple's reputation may take a hit if the allegations are proven true.
