Sister Midnight India Release Date: The Radhika Apte starrer Sister Midnight has already created waves on the global stage. The black comedy film, directed and written by Karan Kandhari in his directorial debut, has received recognition at major film festivals such as BAFTA and Cannes 2024. The story follows a woman who is dragged into an unhappy arranged marriage and experiences chaotic drama. The film is all set to hit the big screens in India.
Sister Midnight stars Radhika Apte, Ashok Pathak, Chhaya Kadam, Smita Tambe, and Navya Sawant. The film is produced by Alastair Clark, Anna Griffin, and Alan McAlex. The movie is set to hit theatres across India on May 23.
Talking about the inspiration behind the movie, director Karan Kandhari said in a statement, “It started from just the idea of what happens the very first morning in an arranged marriage when the wife wakes up and if the guy goes to work and she’s just there and you have no manual to do this. It’s really just about the fact that there is no manual for anything in life."
About Sister Midnight Movie Story
As revealed by the makers, Sister Midnight revolves around the life story of a newly married Uma (played by Radhika Apte), who tries to adjust to life with her husband, Gopal, portrayed by Ashok Pathak. Set in a small room in Mumbai, it gets difficult for her to survive, especially when her husband disappears without leaving financial support. The, she takes the help of their neighbour, Sheetal (Chhaya Kadam), to learn how to cook. However, her life takes a drastic turn after she attends a family wedding and is bitten by a mosquito. Gradually, her illness turns into a terrifying craving for animal blood. Uma's changing appearance sparks growing fear, forcing her to confront the harsh truth. She must choose between accepting her new reality or fading into obscurity.

About Sister Midnight Movie Global Recognition
The movie was nominated for Outstanding British Debut at this year's BAFTAS, Sister Midnight was also one of the talked-about Indian movies at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, where it was selected under Golden Camera and a spot in the Directors' Fortnight section. Not only this, Radhika Apte starrer got four British Independent Film Award (BIFA) nominations and also bagged the Best Picture title in the Next Wave category at Austin’s Fantastic Fest. After its worldwide premiere, the movie is set to enthral audiences in India soon.
