Filmmaker Manish Gupta, who is known for directing Rahasya, has been booked for allegedly injuring his driver with a kitchen knife. The two had an argument over the latter’s salary on June 5, following which the incident took place. The incident occurred in Manish Gupta's residence in Sagar Sanjog building, Mumbai, said the Versova police station official. Reportedly, he allegedly injured his driver for three years, Rajibul Islam Lashkar. As per the official, the filmmaker has been booked under sections 118(2), 115(2) and 352 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for 'voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon, intentional insult to provoke breach of peace and other offences, but is yet to be arrested'. 

The victim's Advocate, Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, has sought the immediate arrest of Manish Gupta. As per a report by Free Press Journal, Rajibul Islam Lashkar, has worked with Gupta for the past three years, with a salary of Rs 23,000. The victim alleged that he was never paid on time. Gupta allegedly sacked him from his job without paying his previous dues on May 30. To get his money back, Lashkar joined the work again and but was not paid. This led to an argument on Thursday at the Gupta's residence. Lashkar alleged that Gupta stabbed him with a kitchen knife during the argument. He then went to Cooper Hospital. After his medical treatment, he lodged an FIR against the filmmaker at Versova Police Station.

The filmmaker has directed films like One Friday Night, 420 IPC, Rahasya, Hostel, Karma Aur Holi, The Stoneman Murders and Darna Zaroori Hai to name a few. He also worked as a writer for Ramgopal Varma's team and had written screenplays for films like D and Sarkar. His most popular directorial film was Rahasya, which was about the very popular Talwar murder case. It was released in theatres in 2015, which starred Kay Kay Menon, Tisca Chopra and Ashish Vidyarthi in key roles.

Manish Gupta's last film was One Friday Night, which released in 2023. The movie starred Milind Soman and Raveena Tandon in the lead roles. The movie is now on JioHotstar.
