Rajkummar Rao, last seen in the blockbuster movie Bhool Chuk Maaf, is collaborating again with Maddock Films on a new movie. Production banner Maddock Films are reportedly making a movie on public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, but it is not a traditional biopic. Instead, the movie will specifically highlight Nikam's role in the high-stakes trial that followed the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks rather than providing a comprehensive biographical account of his entire life or career. 

Rajkummar Rao, according to a report in NDTV, has been locked to play Ujjwal Nikam, the man who led the prosecution against Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist of the 26/11 attacks. The yet-to-be-titled movie is reportedly being helmed by Avinash Arun Dhaware, best known for directing both seasons of the Prime Video series Paatal Lok as well as movies such as Killa and Three Of Us. Sumit Roy, whose previous credits include Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani and The Empire, has penned the screenplay.

Earlier Aamir Khan was in talks to play Nikam, but the Sitaare Zameen Par star eventually stepped away from the project. Reports now state that Rajkummar Rao came on board after Aamir Khan's exit, although no official confirmation has been made by the makers. While the film is based on real events and a real person, it steers away from the format of a traditional biopic. The upcoming movie aims to spotlight the courtroom drama and behind-the-scenes challenges of securing justice in the aftermath of the 26/11 attacks.

Rajkummar Rao’s Upcoming Projects

Rajkummar Rao, known for his roles in hits like Stree, Srikanth, Badhaai Do, Roohi, and Bheed, among others, has had an illustrious Bollywood career. His last appearance was in Bhool Chuk Maaf with Wamiqa Gabbi, which performed well at the box office, grossing Rs 72.30 crore nett in India to date, as per Sacnilk. The Stree actor is now preparing for his upcoming movie, Maalik, where he stars alongside Manushi Chhillar. Maalik is scheduled to hit theatres on July 11, 2025.

Meanwhile, production house Maddock Films’ is also gearing up for its much-anticipated rom-com movie titled Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. Directed by Tushar Jalota, the upcoming poignant drama is a cross-cultural love story between a North Indian boy and a South Indian girl.
