The action drama series Rana Naidu is all set to return with a new season after its debut in 2023. Some viewers were impressed with the action-packed storyline, while others pointed out the bold content. Actor Venkatesh Daggubati received most of the criticism for his bold scenes in the Netflix show. Ahead of Season 2 of Rana Naidu, netizens have once again raised concerns about his character. Venkatesh Daggubati's nephew and co-star Rana Daggubati, has addressed the issue. He spoke about how his family man image has led to such a response.
Rana Daggubati, in a conversation with News18 Showsha, reacted to the backlash he and Venkatesh received for their roles in the series. He said, “It’s not that they aren’t used to seeing us that way. It’s just that shows aren’t that popular in the South. Netflix and Amazon hadn’t made series or shows there before this one. Rana Naidu was one of the earliest shows that they watched. Mirzapur was dubbed for the audience there but a very small segment of them had watched it."
Emphasizing how it becomes difficult for audiences, especially in the South, to accept a new image of their stars.
He stated, "Rana Naidu became big because both Venky sir and I were there in it. It became quite mainstream. As for Venky sir’s image, he was largely doing films that were family dramas. He did some negative roles very early on in his career, which got forgotten over time. Rana Naidu was a show that got him back to that element."
On the trolling over bold content and how it's the responsibility of an actor to captivate the audience with their new image or role. The actor added, “Every time you’re doing something different and try to break away from a mould, there will be a bunch of people who will like you a lot and wouldn’t want to see you doing the films or the characters they’ve been playing for the last few years. And then, there will be another bunch who won’t like this new character. It’s up to you as an actor as to how you can make them fall in love with this new role or image."

In the same interview, Rana Daggubati also talked about his on-screen bond with his uncle. He revealed that they have come much closer as they weren’t ever together on a set as actors.
Rana Naidu season 2 is all set to premiere on June 13 on Netflix. The show stars Kriti Kharbanda, Sushant Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Rajat Kapoor, Tanuj Virwani and Dino Morea, alongside Rana Daggubati, Venkatesh Daggubati, and Arjun Rampal in lead roles. The new season promises to bring more intensity to the family drama with new high-stakes threats and risks.
