Chakda Xpress: Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Anushka Sharma’s Chakda Xpress, one of her most anticipated projects. It is a biopic on the inspiring life of former Indian women's cricket captain Jhulan Goswami. Directed by Prosit Roy and produced by Anushka's brother Karnesh Ssharma's Clean Slate Filmz, this movie is surrounded by speculations about whether it has been shelved or merely postponed. After Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Renuka Shahane, who plays a key role in the film, has now reacted to the ongoing rumours. She shared her thoughts and also praised Anushka for creating such a powerful character.
Renuka Shahane On News Of Chakda Xpress Being Shelved
Renuka Shahane, who shot for the film in 2022, shared she is sad about the reported development. In an interview with NDTV, the actress said, “I am totally heartbroken. Basically, because I think everyone has put in so much effort. Anushka has also worked on herself so much for it. And whatever scenes I did were so powerful and so impactful, especially for women in sports."
Talking about Chakda Xpress, she said, "Jhulan Goswami is iconic, and coming from a very poor house and making it big—and yet the kind of discrepancy that still exists between men’s cricket and women’s cricket, and all other sports, I would say—Chakda Xpress had that core quality of sportsmanship."
Praising Anushka Sharma's performance as Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, Renuka added, "She's really done such a good job of creating that character, and it's so difficult to do because when icons are there in front of us and you have to perform as them it is even more challenging."

Recently, Dibyendu revealed that he himself is confused why the film is not releasing. When asked if Chakda Xpress is being shelved or just delayed, he told News 18, “I have no idea. If I had any information about the film, I would tell you first. I really don’t know because Clean Slate is on one side and Netflix is on the other. What’s going on between the two, I have no clue."
Calling it Anushka's best performance to date, the actor added, " I don’t know why they are not releasing it. It’s a really, really fantastic film."
Why Is The Release Of Chakda Xpress Facing A Delay?
Back in 2022, Chakda Xpress was announced as Anushka Sharma's comeback movie after her last appearance in Zero with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in 2018. It is bankrolled by Clean Slate Filmz, a production house by Anushka’s brother Karnesh Ssharma. However, reports that Slate’s partnership with Netflix had ended emerged online last year, resulting in a delay in its slate of releases. This was followed by speculation that the production house might repurchase the rights from Netflix and explore other platforms for release. However, these claims have not been confirmed by the makers of the film yet.
