Retro Box Office Report: The romantic-action movie Retro, starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, has significantly underperformed at the box office. The actor has yet to find success at the box office after Kanguva tanked at the ticket booths.

Retro ended its box office run under Rs 100 crores. This is undoubtedly a disappointment for all of the Suriya fans out there. Despite having a solid start, the Tamil movie suffered from a lack of favourable word-of-mouth and fierce competition from other recent releases that generated higher attendance.

Retro, which debuted on May 1 at an incredible Rs 19.25 crore, had a significant run-in with Nani's Telugu movie, HIT 3. Two Hindi blockbusters, Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 and Akshay Kumar's Kesari 2, have also competed with Retro. The Tamil movie witnessed a downward trend since the second day at the box office. 

Retro has made 60.49 crore (nett) and 71.25 crore (gross), according to Sacnilk. This is a remarkable margin, but it doesn't look like the movie will recover its reported budget of Rs 65 crore, fully. Regarding its overseas earnings, the Suriya led movie brought in a total of Rs 26 crores. The current global total of Retro's collection is Rs 97.25 crores.

Retro Movie Cast And Plot Details

Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, and Prakash Raj all play significant roles in the movie. Shriya Saran makes a special cameo appearance in Suriya and Pooja Hegde's movie, Retro.

Following a few spiritual signals, Sandhya (Swastika) and her gangster husband Thilagan (Joju George) adopt Paarivelkannan (Suriya). Since Paari is not his child, Thilagan hates him. His happiness and smile are torn away by his childhood turmoil, leaving him always melancholy. Paari is left with Thilagan after Sandhya passes away. Paari and Rukmini, who are both mourning the loss of their mother, are also brought closer by this entire scenario.

Sparks ignite when Paari and Rukmini reconnect in Coorg, 14 years later. Following four years of romance and multiple personality changes, Paari is now a changed man who is prepared to give up his life as a mobster. However, is there a way out of a life that revolves around blood and gore?
