Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa starrer Sardaar Ji 3 has been embroiled in controversy since the release of its trailer for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in a supporting role. Since the Pahalgam attack in April, the Indian cine bodies have put a strict ban on Pakistani actors working in India. The Instagram accounts of popular celebrities like Atif Aslam and Hania Aamir have also been suspended in India. Amid all these escalating tensions between the two countries, the release of Sardaar Ji 3 has not been as fruitful as expected. Actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has been majorly standing on the receiving end of the backlash as fans raised questions about his loyalty towards the nation.

Now, Neeru Bajwa’s social media activity has again sparked a buzz among the netizens. The lead actress of the film has recently unfollowed her co-actors Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir on Instagram. Additionally, her account no longer features any promotional clip of Sardaar Ji 3, and only shows the announcement video of her upcoming Hindi movie, Son Of Sardaar 2, as her last post.

Her social media actions have gained her praise from fans. One user wrote, "This is Brave on Neeru's part! Respect to her!" Another added, "Kudos to her but she’s likely aware that this backlash could harm her career so the reasoning behind it is unclear.. Keep in mind.. the accusations against Diljit also apply to the filmmakers and the rest of the cast.. It’s his arrogance, justifications and attitude of taking the audience for granted that’s frustrating us but at least she’s making efforts."

The makers of the movie, along with Diljit Dosanjh, came under fire for promoting the film amid the chaos and chatter. Though they have defended the Pakistani actress by stating that the movie was shot before the India-Pakistan conflict. Due to the controversy, the movie has also skipped India release and is slated to release on June 27, 2025, overseas.
