Diljit Dosanjh - the ultimate Punjabi munda, who has won hearts across the seas with his superior talent and charismatic aura, is no stranger to controversies. Throughout his musical and acting journey, Diljit has been a part of issues revolving around casting choices, concert challenges, and social media banters. Recently, the singer has sparked widespread gossip by releasing the trailer of his upcoming Punjabi movie, Sardaar Ji 3, featuring the Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Following the terrorist attacks and military operations, the relationship between India and Pakistan is currently very sensitive. Amid all this chaos, the casting of Hania Aamir has been strongly condemned by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), along with fans showing disappointment towards the singer. Diljit Dosanjh and Border 2
Sardaar Ji 3’s trailer has created another trouble for the Punjabi munda. The FWICE called the casting of the ‘Born To Shine’ star a serious blow to national sentiments. Following this, the film body has sent several letters to the makers of the movie. Also, a separate letter has been sent to Sunny Deol that reads - “We are confident that the values you have always upheld, both on screen and off, will guide you to take a stand in line with the nation’s sentiments.”

Punjab or Panjab
When Diljit Dosanjh was on his Dil Luminati tour, he mistakenly generated a buzz online with a promotional post. Ik Kudi singer made a post, where the spelling of Punjab was spelt as ‘Panjab’, which made fans believe that he was hinting at the Pakistani interpretation of the state’s name. Diljit made a clarification on this and mentioned that ‘Panjab’ is a historically correct transliteration, which means "land of five rivers." He added it had no political connection.
Alcohol related songs during the Karnataka concert
Continuing with his Dil Luminati tour, while he was on his south leg, the singer got a legal notice from the Karnataka’s state government. Ahead of the Telangana concert, Diljit Dosanjh was banned from performing alcohol related songs. Some fans supported the government’s decision, while others defended the artist’s work. Amid all this, the singer didn’t change his song list, but tweaked the lyrics of his songs.

Indian flag controversy at Coachella
Diljit Dosanjh became the first Punjabi artist to own the stage during the Coachella music festival. During the show, the singer asked a fan to lower the Indian flag, which instantly got highlighted. People saw this as a disrespect to the Indian symbol. But later, the global icon clarified that he wanted to encourage inclusiveness and not hurt anybody’s sentiments.
