Ajay Devgn's 2024 supernatural thriller Shaitaan was a superhit at the box office, and its sequel, Shaitaan 2, is reportedly in development. Helmed by Vikas Bahl, the movie is expected to begin production in 2026, soon after Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Five with Rohit Shetty. The creators have reportedly established a seamless link between Shaitaan and Maa, aiming to intensify the chilling experience for audiences. The movie is planned to have a release in 2027, depending on its shooting timelines and post-production.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Shaitaan 2 will have new actors on board besides retaining its original star cast, Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, Jyothika, and Janki Bodiwala. Furthermore, the official announcement of Shaitaan 2 can be expected with Kajol’s upcoming release, Maa, on the big screen. As Shaitaan and Maa cross paths in the same cinematic universe, Kajol’s cameo in Shaitaan 2 shouldn't be a surprise. However, a concrete confirmation on the same is awaited.

Meanwhile, Shaitaan 2 will reportedly be an original supernatural drama, unlike its previous instalment. The movie is currently in the writing phase, while the premise is established. Writer Aamil Keeyan Khan, who penned the first instalment, is still working on the final draft. The first instalment depicted a family's struggle against the black magician Vanraj, played by R. Madhavan. In contrast, the sequel is expected to take place in Maharashtra's Konkan region, an area notorious for its dark practices.

Ajay Devgn’s Upcoming Projects

On the work front, Ajay Devgn will be next seen in Son of Sardaar 2, which is slated for a theatrical release on July 25, starring alongside Mrunal Thakur. The Singham actor will also be featured in De De Pyaar De 2, which is locked to release on November 14, 2025. The actor will commence the shoot of Drishyam 3 reportedly by the end of 2025, targeting an October 2, 2026, release. Ajay Devgn’s latest release, Raid 2, did significantly well at the box office with a total collection of Rs 176.93 crore in India.
