KBC 17 Controversy: A recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17 has gone viral after a young contestant’s behaviour towards host Amitabh Bachchan sparked strong reactions across social media. The contestant, Ishit Bhatt, a fifth-standard student from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, has become the centre of heated discussion online. During his appearance on the popular quiz show, Ishit’s confidence was quickly labelled as overconfidence by viewers. Many netizens criticised his tone and attitude towards Amitabh Bachchan, calling it “rude” and “disrespectful”. Others, however, have urged people to show more understanding, reminding everyone that he is only a child.

The controversy began when Ishit Bhatt interrupted Amitabh Bachchan early in the show, saying, “Mere ko rules pata hai isliye aap mereko abhi rules samjhane mat baithna.” Throughout the episode, he continued to speak assertively, asking the host to hurry up and give him the answer options by saying, “Arre option daalo.” When it was time to lock in his final answer, Ishit added another dramatic comment, “Sir ek kya, uss mein chaar lock lagado, lekin lock karo.” Unfortunately, he gave an incorrect answer to a question about the Ramayana and left the show without any winnings. The incident divided the internet as some users said the child’s behaviour reflected a lack of manners and parental guidance, others believed the criticism had gone too far.

However, singer Chinmayi Sripaada came forward to defend Ishit Bhatt. The playback singer criticised adults for targeting a young child, calling them “horrible bullies.” In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she wrote, “An adult putting a tweet saying ‘most hated kid’. Adults here on Twitter have been some of the most foul-mouthed and abusive people, yet they are picking on a child. What a horrible bunch of bullies they’ve raised themselves to be.” Chinmayi’s response sparked another wave of discussion about online behaviour and the ethics of criticising children on public platforms. She questioned why adults remain silent on serious issues involving children but rush to attack a young participant on a TV show.

Meanhwile, Amitabh Bachchan also handled the moment gracefully during the episode. Responding to Ishit’s attitude, he said, “Kabhi kabhi bachche overconfidence mein galti kar dete hai.” His calm and understanding reaction earned praise from viewers. The debate has since expanded beyond Ishit’s conduct to include conversations about parenting, media responsibility, and the growing pressure on child contestants in reality shows. Many viewers now question whether shows like KBC should offer more emotional guidance and mentoring for young participants.
