Aamir Khan starrer Sitaare Zameen Par is slated to release in theatres on June 20. Recently, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has reportedly asked the makers of the film to make a few additions, which include adding a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the opening disclaimer. A report by Bollywood Hungama suggests that the release of Sitaare Zameen Par was in uncertainty after the film body asked the makers, Aamir Khan Productions, to make a few cuts in the movie, which was unacceptable to Aamir.
Khan was not satisfied with the changes that were suggested by CBFC. After this, the Revising Committee, headed by Waman Kendre, watched the movie. The report by the portal further claims that the Revising Committee also asked the makers to change the terms, such as Michael Jackson with Lovebirds and Business Woman with Business Person. It also asked to remove a visual in the movie which has the word ‘Kamal’. Following the changes made, CBFC has granted a U/A 13+ certificate to the film.
Sitaare Zameen Par is an official remake of the 2016 Spanish movie Champions. The movie revolves around a basketball coach who has been given the opportunity to train Neurodivergent adults for a community service. The perspective of the coach soon changed by the team members with their enthusiasm in the game and the way they lead their lives. The movie features Aamir Khan, Genelia Deshmukh, Brijendra Kala, Ayush Bhansali, Simran Mangeshkar, Anup Kumar Mishra, Gurpal Singh, Dolly Ahluwalia, Gopi Krishna Varma, Ashish Pendse, Rishabh Jain, Rishi Shahani, Aroush Datta and Vedant Sharma in key roles. It has been directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Ravi Bhagchandka, Aparna Purohit. While sharing the trailer of the movie, the makers wrote on Instagram, “1 Tingu Basketball Coach, 10 Toofani SITAARE aur unki journey. Watch #SitaareZameenPar #SabkaApnaApnaNormal, 20th June Only In Theatres. Trailer Out Now!”
As per Sacnilk, Sitaare Zameen Par has earned Rs 4.6 crore with block seats so far. It is the sequel to the 2007 movie Taare Zameen Par and is expected to surpass the opening day collection of the prequel. The 2007 film earned Rs 2.65 crore on day 1. Notably, Taare Zameen Par then had a box office collection of Rs 62.95 crore.
