It is no hidden fact that Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai's love story blossomed on the set of their movie, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Their co-star Smita Jaykar recently opened up about how they fell for each other during the movie's shoot. "Yes, they fell in love there. Their affair flourished there. And it helped the film a lot. Both of them had those moony-moony eyes, and romance was showing on their faces. That worked very well for the film," said Smita in a conversation with Filmymantra Media.

Smita said, "Salman is quite a brat. I don't know how he is now but at that time he was. He is a very nice person, a large-hearted person. I haven’t seen him angry on set. Who doesn’t get angry? But people tend to exaggerate it when it comes to film personalities."

"If someone instigates you, you’re bound to get angry, right? We don’t know the other person’s side—what they did to provoke that anger. Aishwarya is very beautiful. Without makeup, too, she looked so pretty. Very humble, very grounded—at least at that time when I knew her," she further added.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is a 1999 Indian romantic drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starring Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Aishwarya Rai. The film draws its narrative from Jhaverchand Meghani's play "Shetal ne Kathe", weaving a poignant tale of love, sacrifice and selflessness. At its core, the story revolves around a newlywed man who discovers that his wife's heart belongs to another, and in a gesture of profound love and devotion, he decides to unite the two souls. Interestingly, the film's storyline has also been likened to Maitreyi Devi's Bengali novel "Na Hanyate", although the film does not explicitly acknowledge this as a source.
