Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, bankrolled by Balaji Telefilms, aired on the Star Plus channel from July 3, 2000, to November 6, 2008. The second season of the critically acclaimed show was set to air again on July 3, 2025, marking its 25th anniversary. However, recent reports revealed the postponement of the show's release. Earlier Hindustan Times attributed that due to some changes in the set wanted by showmaker Ekta Kapoor, the release has been delayed. Now the same news portal has quoted Amar Upadhyay’s comments on the delay, who is set to reprise his role as Mihir Virani in the show.

Amar Upadhyay, according to a report in Hindustan Times, confirmed the earlier claims about the much-anticipated show’s delay. “Yes, it’s true. The set had to be reworked. Apparently, the colour combination on screen wasn’t translating the way it should. Ekta knows exactly what she wants—she’s a perfectionist. And this is Kyunki… it’s not just another show. It’s a legacy, and she wants to do everything that’s best for the show,” the actor said.

The 48-year-old further stated, “The mahurat shoot will take place on the 25th anniversary of the original premiere. Honestly, it’s symbolic. To start again, on the same date, feels like a full-circle moment. The nostalgia is hitting hard, but this time, we’re stepping into it with new energy, updated storytelling, and a set that’s being crafted down to the last detail.”

Same comfort, same energy. It felt familiar and warm—just like it used to be 25 years ago,” Amar stated, recalling his meeting with Smriti post the show was announced. Their chemistry as Mihir and Tulsi was once the heartbeat of Indian television, and Amar is confident that spark will reignite in the new season too.
