Smriti Irani is all set to make a comeback with her iconic television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. It was not just a show, but a celebration of emotions as it brought people together from all over the nation. Smriti’s popular character Tulsi Virani was a household name. Fans loved the storyline, and with the new season’s announcement, they can’t wait to revisit the world of Tulsi. The actress shed light on her career path and talked about managing two different professions at the same time.
Smriti Irani, in an interview with NDTV, opened up about her two careers and shared, “(Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi) It is a side project. For most consumers, the project is not one individual, it's always a group of actors coming together. A group of writers coming together. I am, very humbly so, the most recognisable face out of that mix of people but I am a full time politician and a part-time actor. Just like many politicians who are part-time lawyers, part-time teachers, part-time journalists. I just happen to be doing it simultaneously, which is difficult to grasp. I am just the one in the spotlight.”

The politician continued and talked about how it doesn’t affect her what critics say about the show and its portrayal of patriarchy. “Couldn't care less, because the criticism was not constructive or informed. The show spoke about marital rape 25 years ago. The show about adult literacy 25 years ago. The show spoke about euthanasia 25 years ago. Those were issues that were not even touched by mainstream cinema, and we did it commercially in a television slot which was meant for family viewing,” she expressed.
Smriti Irani further added that it was Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi that brought the concept of pay parity to the TV industry, and people got paid what they deserved, not because of their gender but their talent. She added that Ektaa Kapoor was given a time slot of 10:30 pm, which was a dead time slot. It was the show’s brilliance to make it a prime time.
