Sonali Bendre Recalls Salman Khan’s UNEXPECTED Reaction After Her Cancer Diagnosis

Sonali Bendre and Salman Khan did not get along on the set. The actress talked about this and how he supported her after learning she had cancer. She was diagonised with a Stage 4 cancer in 2018. She talked about how radiation and chemotherapy affected her body, making rehabilitation challenging given the demands of her physically demanding job. 

Sonali Bendre flew to New York to received treatment for her illness. She, however, recalled how Salman Khan stood up and revealed a side she had never seen before in an interview with ANI.  She disclosed that the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star visited New York twice to check on Sonali throughout her illness.

Sonali Bendre said, "There are two sides to Salman. You can either love him or you will hate him. And at that point of time, I was not fond of him. When I was doing Hum Saath Saath Hain, I mean, I have had my close-ups that we are doing when he's standing behind the camera and making faces at me. But that was Salman. He's a prankster. He's like a child."

Sonali Bendre revealed that Salman Khan will give her husband a call to see if they have the appropriate physicians. Bendre would also recommend the names of the physicians he thought would be more appropriate. During this difficult period, she also asserted that her co-star in Hum Saath Saath Hai assumed an elderly role.

"For the same person who's making faces behind the camera is the same person who has made two trips maybe to New York where I'm there to see if I'm okay in my illness... and for the fact that he would call up and check with my husband, and say, 'Are you sure you've got the right doctors? I think you should get in touch with these doctors also," she disclosed.

"It showed me how sensitive and caring he is. It really changed how I looked at him," she added.

In the same interview, Sonali Bendre talked about her experience working on the Sooraj Barjatya movie set. The actress disclosed that at first, she and Salman Khan did not get along. During the session, she was annoyed by his mischievous side.

Sonali Bendre was cancer-free in 2021 after battling the illness. She has continued to help cancer patients and has been quite outspoken about the disease ever since.
