Sonu Nigam recently talked about singing the remake of the 1990 hit song Bijuria in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. The singer, who is giving back-to-back hit songs, stated that if remakes are done while respecting the original creators, then there is nothing bad at all. In just a few hours, the song has been trending and already earned 4.5 lakh views on YouTube. With the melodious voice, this time, Nigam has given a slight twist to the song Bijuria.
While sharing his thoughts about the remake of Bijuria, Sonu Nigam told Hindustan Times, “Remakes, if done with respect and regard to the original creators, are not a bad thing at all. Sometimes remakes spoil a song, but a lot of times they bring old melodies back and create nostalgia for people who grew up with them.”
Bijuria originally released as part of his third non-film album, Mausam, the track was a deliberate attempt at pure pop. “I had the freedom to choose what I wanted to sing. We weren’t thinking of movies at all—it was a pop project. And now, after 26 years, it’s finding its way into a film. It is an incredible thing, really.” At the time of release, Bijuria stood out for more than just its sound. The music video then featured Sonu as a ghost. He added, “That caught the fancy of youngsters like Varun Dhawan back then, which is why he has always had so much love for the song.”
Coming back to Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, the romantic comedy movie is slated to be released in theatres on September 12. The film features Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf and Abhinav Sharma in pivotal roles. It has been directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Adar Poonawalla and Shashank Khaitan. Manush Nandan is the cinematographer of the film. The shooting of the movie commenced in May 2024 and wrapped up in August 2025. Notably, Bijuria is the first song of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari that has been released.
