Sridevi is one of the iconic actresses of Bollywood, having left a remarkable mark with her performances in Hindi cinema. She wasn't free from controversies; some of her most admirable qualities, like her fierce loyalty and protective nature, were often overlooked. Her unmatched loyalty to her directors remained steadfast, even when a film faced trouble. Director Shekhar Kapur, who worked with the late actress in the 1987 film Mr India, recalled one such incident. Sharing a throwback photo from their first day of shoot in Mahabaleshwar, he revealed how, behind her stardom, there was a deep innocence and vulnerability, qualities she channelled through the camera to express her inner emotions.
Sridevi Was Fiercely Loyal, Says Shekhar Kapur
Taking to his Instagram handle, director Shekhar Kapur reminisced about working with Sridevi and her support during the film's crisis. Sharing the photo featuring himself with the late actress, where they can be seen dancing with their arms stretched out. Along with the post, he shared some interesting facts about her. He wrote, "This was my first day of shoot with Sridevi ever. We were shooting a song in Mahabaleshwar. And when she started to dance the world stopped for all of us .. the only thing that moved was Sri Devi dancing ..We all just gawked. It was like another being had descended amongst us .. and I even forgot to say Cut ! Like everyone else in the set .. we were too mesmerised by Sridevi ‘s dancing .."
Revealing how he protected him and never left his side, Mr India director added, “There were other things about Sridevi that are not spoken about .. that she was fiercely loyal .. when the film got into trouble .. she would take any chance she got to protect me .. speak about how incredible I was .. she took it upon herself to fiercely protect her Director ..Yet behind her stardom .. behind her incredible talent .. lay such innocence .. such vulnerability.. And she would use not only her talent to perform .. but bring to it her vulnerability and innocence to it too. As if the only person she would express her inner feelings to was the camera .. her protector in a way."
