Soni Razdan has always proven her acting prowess and was among the top actresses in Hindi cinema, yet her identity is still often limited to being known as "somebody else’s somebody." She married filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt at the peak of her career and after marriage, she faced hurdles in maintaining her niche in the industry. Soni recently revealed how her offers dried up post-wedding. She also addressed how her identity continues to be restricted to being Alia Bhatt’s mother or Mahesh Bhatt's wife, stating that she is struggling to be recognised for her own work

During promotions of Songs Of Paradise, Soni Razdan admitted that her individual identity has often been overshadowed. In an interview with News 18, she said, “All my life, even now, I’m somebody else’s somebody. Let me be very loud and clear… My struggle is still to be known by who I am. I’m happy for the people around me, who’re doing so well in their lives. How could I not be? I’m grateful. But perhaps that’s how my journey was meant to be. Now I laugh at it. It’s funny but I just go on, thinking that it’s okay,"
Revealing Bollywood’s treatment of women actors in the 1980s and 90s, especially after marriage, she stated, "I’ve grown up in this industry – in the sense that I’ve been here for so many years. There has been a huge change over the years. I find it to be an almost different world altogether. When I had started out, I was doing really well. And then suddenly I got married. I wasn’t getting any work after that."

Soni shared that people's suggestions only made her angrier.
After marriage, when Soni Razdan wasn't getting work, she was fortunate to be offered the TV serial Buniyaad by Ramesh Sippy and Jyoti Sarap. The show gave her career a much-needed push and helped get her back on track. Sharing the details, the actress stated, "I got a feedback from somewhere that since she’s now so and so’s wife, why does she need to work? I got so angry! But then, luckily, Buniyaad happened and after that, I got to work in some really good films. But before that, I was so upset. But this is what has changed today."

She mentioned that in earlier times, actresses used to put their personal life on hold for their career, but now times have changed. Today, actresses are living their personal lives and doing things their way.
Soni Razdan has been a part of several films like Gumrah, Saaransh, Page 3, Raazi, Sadak, Khamosh and many others. Now, she is garnering praise for her role in Songs Of Paradise, which was released on Prime Video. She stars alongside Saba Azad.
