Sunny Deol, the celebrated Bollywood actor known for powerful performances in movies like Border, Gadar, and Betaab, among others, recently opened up about his lifelong struggle with dyslexia. Sunny, in a latest interview, shared the struggles he faced during his childhood days because of this disorder and how he ultimately overcame it. The actor was last seen in the movie Jaat which released in April, and was a significant box office success.
Sunny Deol, in an interview with Zoom said, “That time, the scenario was such that if you weren't good with studies or anything, you were considered a duffer, jisko padhai nahi aati thi. Toh maar padhti rehti thi. It's an individual thing. Every child is gifted with something or the other. Once the child realises what he is good at, that is where the child should be manoeuvring his life."

The Ghayal actor further spoke about his childhood days and shared, “I was very much fond of sports. Meri school mein I was virtually in every team. Koi aisa nahi tha jismein I wasn't there. I took part in all sports, and that's where all my energy was. When I spoke earlier, people laughed about it; my IQ was very high. But that was the reason I would just pass through without reading and writing. I would still pass my exams and move ahead. So, that is because your brain is giving you the answers too. That's how it was." Sunny Deol further revealed that he discovered this disorder when he witnessed his own child go through it.
Meanwhile, when asked if he faced difficulties while reading scripts, the actor agreed and shared, "But then you adapt to it, na?" "Everybody has their skills of adapting, which God has given to you, and you do it. I work with the understanding of what I have to do and what my character is and what is written over there and what it is meant to be," the 67-year-old added.
As a concluding note the Border actor mentioned, "When you start reading it, those words and sentences start framing properly. Otherwise, aage peeche jump hota rahata hi. Nobody knew about it. I never made anyone feel bad about it."
