Ayushmann Khurrana married Tahira Kashyap at the young age of 24 and moved to Mumbai to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. Tahira was jobless at that time and was still applying for a decent job. The author shared that the couple was going through a tough time in their initial days of marriage. She recalled that after moving to Mumbai, she was the only one managing the household expenses like getting groceries, and was losing all of her savings slowly, without Ayushmann realising this.
Tahira Kashyap also mentioned that some of her savings were already used up in her wedding and it was getting difficult to manage everything alone. During an interview with Official People Of India, Tahira said, “I had spent some money on my wedding but I had my own savings. But, I didn’t have a job in Mumbai. We had just gotten married and I was still applying for jobs. This boy did not understand how were we getting the food, like how were we buying all of these vegetables, fruits.”

Talking about managing her finances, she mentioned, “My bank balance was depleting. I had never asked anyone for money, even my parents. I had always been financially independent but now everything went for a toss because it had been a year and my bank balance was zero.”

She also recalled how one question from her husband Ayushmann Khurrana pushed her to the extent of crying. Tahira explained that once, Ayushmann asked her why she was not eating mangoes, not knowing that she was intentionally skipping so that he could enjoy them. Tahira said, “He asked, ‘What’s the problem?’ And I just started crying. I asked, ‘How do you think we are buying groceries?’ He was like, ‘Oh yeah’. I said, ‘My bank balance is zero. It’s been 7-8 months and I am trying to figure out jobs and we are spending only my savings.”

She further added that it was then that he realised the seriousness of the situation. “And then he realised, ‘Why didn’t you ask me for money?’ I said, ‘Because I can’t. You are supposed to buy groceries with me.’ By then he had become a VJ so his journey had started,” she explained.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Tahira Kashyap have been together since they were in school. The lovebirds got married in 2008 and presently have two children, son Virajveer and daughter Varushka.
