Owen Cooper, 15, is the youngest male Emmy winner, making him a permanent member of the Academy's history books. He was recognised for his role in the highly acclaimed, The Adolescence, for which he received the Outstanding Supporting Actor award in a Limited or Anthology Series or Film. The Manchester native made a big impression with his breakthrough performance in the series backed by Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham for Netflix. For those who are unaware, Jharrel Jerome was the youngest supporting actor in a limited series when he received the honour at the age of 21. While Roxana Zal, who won the award for Something About Amelia at the age of 14 is still the youngest winner overall, Owen Cooper became the youngest winner in the male category.

Owen Cooper said he 'was nothing three years ago' in his acceptance speech. "It's just so surreal. Honestly, when I started these drama classes a couple years back, I didn't expect to be even in the United States, never mind here. So I think tonight proves that if you listen and you focus and you step out your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life," the Emmy winner added.

Owen also expressed gratitude to Netflix, his family, and his co-stars in his acceptance speech. The 15-year old actor was speechless when he spoke to the media following the victory.
