Aryan Khan's directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, streaming on Netflix from September 18, has landed into legal trouble due to a particular scene featuring actor Ranbir Kapoor using banned e-cigarettes on screen without a warning or disclaimer. This has raised objections from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). The NHRC has asked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Mumbai Police to submit an Action Taken Report in response to a complaint against Netflix’s web series. They urged that appropriate action be taken to prohibit such content, which may mislead young viewers.
According to an ANI report, a complaint was lodged with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) alleging that the portrayal of vaping without a warning could influence the youth.
In a letter to the Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the NHRC also approached the Mumbai Police Commissioner, requesting the registration of an FIR against Ranbir Kapoor, the producers of the series, and Netflix under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019.

What Is Ranbir's Scene In The Ba***ds of Bollywood?
Ranbir Kapoor appears in a surprise cameo in episode 7, the series finale of The Ba***ds of Bollywood, where he plays himself. In the controversial scene, the actor meets filmmaker Karan Johar and Sanya (Anya Singh), who is the manager of the series' lead, Lakshya's character Aasmaan Singh. During an interaction, a star-struck Anya admits being an admirer of him. Ranbir is seen using a e-cigarettes (vape) in the scene.

Besides Ranbir Kapoor's cameo, the show featured special appearances by Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sara Ali Khan, Salman Khan, Emraan Hashmi, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Maheep Kapoor, among many others.

Despite the brewing controversy, Aryan Khan’s debut has been trending on Netflix, securing a top position on the platform. The series also stars Lakshya, Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Mona Singh, Sahher Bambba, and Anya Singh in crucial roles. Written and directed by Aryan, it is produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment banner.
However, neither Netflix nor the makers of The Ba***ds have reacted to the situation or issued a statement.
