The Telangana High Court on Wednesday granted relief to the makers of Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab in a case related to the film’s ticket price hike. The court’s decision comes as a significant development for the producers amid the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the issue. A division bench comprising Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya and Justice Gadi Praveen Kumar clarified that an earlier order issued by a single judge on December 9—restraining any increase in ticket prices—was limited in its scope and applicability. The bench noted that the previous directive could not be interpreted as a blanket restriction, thereby offering relief to the film’s makers.

The bench also clarified that an earlier order passed by a single judge on December 9, which restrained any increase in ticket prices, had a limited scope. The bench observed that the restriction was applicable only to certain big-budget films, including Pushpa 2, Game Changer, OG and Akhanda 2 and did not extend to the films currently under consideration. With regard to The Raja Saab and Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, starring Chiranjeevi, the court stated that the decision on ticket price enhancement would be left to the discretion of the state government.

During the hearing, counsel appearing for the producers informed the court that representations had already been submitted to the home secretary seeking permission to conduct benefit shows along with approval for a ticket price hike. The producers urged the authorities to consider their applications at the earliest.

They further contended that the single judge’s order was unsustainable in law and argued that the continuation of the restriction would cause serious prejudice to their interests.
