Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) has been running for over 17 years since it premiered on television in 2008. The sitcom saw many new faces and the exit of popular actors who gave iconic roles like Disha Vakani as Dayaben, Bhavya Gandhi aka Tipendra Jethalal Gada and others. Among them was Kush Shah aka Goli, the food lover and one of the smartest members of the Tapu gang. Recently, Kush opened up about why he left the show. He also revealed how he learned from Dilip Joshi and Mandar Chandwadkar on the sets.

Kush Shah recently appeared on the podcast Just Kidding with Sid, where he got candid about his role and departure from TMKOC show. He said, "I miss being on sets because that is my home. But I had to take this decision for me because I turned 27 and I felt this is the time to do something. I feel this show is going to go on forever as viewers are not going to stop loving the show. I love TMKOC, the people on the show, I genuinely love it and I was addicted to that environment."

He added, "We shot during COVID as well. We shifted to Daman and shot there. There has not been a single day when I’ve woken up and I don’t have to go anywhere. Then there comes a time when you start missing it."

Goli also shared his experience of working with Jethalal Gada aka Dilip Joshi and how he used to sit with him on sets and go through the scripts.

“I was in 5th class when I started doing Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. I started working during the 5th standard vacation. We used to sit with Dilip sir with scripts in our hands and would improvise. I started learning from him as a kid and enjoyed it. I have learnt a lot, especially from Bhide (Mandar Chandwadkar) uncle and Dilip sir. They have a crazy timing. I loved acting and enjoyed each day on the sets," Kush stated.

Kush's character Goli was famous for his cheerful and love for food characteristics. He shared his views on the concept of body positivity, surely he is not a big fans of this.

He shared, "See I am fat and when I talk about food it looks.. see I don't like this body positivity concept. I am not like that and I don't want to be positive about my body. If you are told that you will die if you don't lose weight, then it is all about your lifestyle. A while back, I had lost a lot of weight, that is when I realised that you come to know how you breathe. See how you can see your features, I don't see them. Main patla hounga toh pata chalega, main kaisa dikhta hoon. That is when I will see a different side of me. But with all this body positivity, calm down."

After playing an iconic character in the TMKOC for 16 years, Kush made his exit to focus on his life and other important things.
