Varun Dhawan has addressed the barrage of trolling he has been subjected to, stating unequivocally that he is unaffected by the noise on the internet, ahead of Border 2's premiere. Speaking at the Braves of the Soil homage trailer launch of the war drama, the actor answered calmly, saying that memes and criticism are a part of the business and that he is still committed to delivering good movies.

Varun Dhawan faced criticism since the release of the song Ghar Kab Aaoge from Border 2. Some social media users started making fun of his performance in the song, focusing on his smile and facial expressions in particular. What began as criticism quickly evolved into memes, igniting extensive discussion on his casting and performance in the movie.

Varun Dhawan was questioned directly about the 'noise' surrounding his participation in Border 2 in a video posted by a fan on X (previously Twitter). In an open response, he stated that he thinks it's important to ignore other distractions and allow his work do the talking. He said, "I believe that you shut down the noise and just let your work do the talking. Yeh sab cheezein chalti rehti hai. It doesn’t really matter."

Varun Dhawan goes on to say that he doesn't work for trends or online approval. He thinks that an actor's performance is truly evaluated on the big screen rather than on social media timelines. "Main iske liye kaam karta hoon. Main jis cheeze ke liye kaam karta hoon woh iss Friday ko pata chalega."

Varun Dhawan added, "Mujhe film pe bharosa hai. Ek achi film banana bohot important hai. Obviously, numbers yeh sab cheezein mera kuch lena dena nahi hai isse. But I believe ki humne ek achi film banayi hai."

Varun expressed his faith in the theatrical experience, saying that everything else disappears as viewers enter theatres. "Log jab theatre mein jaate hai, sab bhool jaate hai. They want to be entertained, that's it," he shared. The actor remarked that he comes from a school of thought where work speaks louder than opinions.

Varun Dhawan chooses to put his faith in the movie and the audience as the release date draws near, believing that once the lights go down in theatres, the work will speak for itself.

Border 2 Release Date

Border 2 is the sequel to J. P. Dutta's classic 1997 war movie Border, and it is directed by Anurag Singh. The movie, which is slated to open in theatres on January 23, has high expectations due to its star-studded cast as well as its legacy. The film honours the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers and is set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan conflict. Alongside Varun Dhawan, the ensemble cast consists of Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, Medha Rana, and Mona Singh.
