Thakur Anoop Singh, known for playing the role of King Dhritarashtra in the 2013 hit TV show Mahabharat, is all set to become an Indian Army officer for his upcoming Bollywood movie Controll. But getting a breakthrough in Bollywood wasn’t easy for him as the actor faced numerous challenges while transitioning from the small screen to the big screen. However, he always believed that ‘patience, perseverance and faith’ are the keys to success. As an outsider, Singh encountered several difficulties, and one of them was waiting 5 years to become a lead actor in a film. He shared how long he had been striving to grab the opportunity to take on a central role, which he achieved with Romeo S3. In an exclusive interview with The Daily Jagran, Anoop Singh shared his journey of making it in Bollywood as an outsider.

Thakur Anoop Singh said, “It is extremely challenging to get a breakthrough in the film industry. You really have to have patience and perseverance and faith that one day I will crack it. For me to have this kind of faith that I want to get into films, I was already having an experience of working on 15 different television shows. So I knew that after so much experience, only I could tell myself that, okay, now I'm ready for films. So I was prepared, prepared to wait. And I waited 5 years, even I waited for my debut film (as lead). Romeo S3 came out this year, but we shot it around in 2021. But almost since 2018, I was not doing anything else but waiting for my debut. So patience is the key. So it is very difficult. I am a complete outsider.”

The actor continued, “No one from my entire family has been an actor. I'm the only guy from my family who first became a pilot and then an actor. So, it was extremely difficult for me to learn the craft and do the networking and convince people that I can act very well somehow. I would like to give my credit to Shri Jayantilal Gada, Pen Studios, because he saw in me at one point that, okay, I can work in this manner. He was the one who envisioned that I could become a hero. It takes a lot for a producer to invest his hard-earned money in a new boy just like that. Just based on faith, I think it was only he who could see in me what maybe even I could not see in myself. So that was a huge boost of motivation for me to be hard-working than what I was doing. So it is extremely difficult, but being an outsider, it is possible.”

“You need a lot of hard work, patience and a lot of failures. You need to cope with them. Every day, take it with a pinch of salt and just smile and continue the struggle till you reach there. This is a struggle, it's a battle. You should feel the need to act in movies as badly as you should feel the need to breathe. Only then miracles happen,” Singh added.
