'Isko Samjhao, Boht Khubsurat Samajhti…’: Himani Shivpuri Recalls Salman Khan Getting Angry At Aishwarya Rai On Film Set

Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan’s onscreen pair became a hit after they first appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s blockbuster Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. While working on the film, the actors fell in love with each other and became the talk of the town. But years later, their relationship ended on an ugly note. Recalling their romantic memories, veteran actor Himani Shivpuri stated that whenever she worked with Aishwarya during those times, Salman used to visit her on sets. She also recalled incidents when Salman would angrily speak about her and she tried to calm him down.

In an interview with Red FM Podcasts, Himani Shivpuri stated that she worked with Aishwarya Rai in Aa Ab Laut Chalein, and then in Humara Dil Aapke Paas Hai and Umrao Jaan. The veteran actress said, “She was not very established back then. We were very close then.” She recalled an incident when they were shooting in Hyderabad for Humara Dil Aapke Paas Hai. Shivpuri added, “We would shoot in Hyderabad. This was the time when she and Salman were going very strong so Salman used to come every night and leave in the morning.”

“She was very nice and very well read and we used to talk a lot. And there were some things that I couldn’t share, of course. More than a beauty, I think she is a very nice person,” the actress said.

When asked to comment on Salman and Aishwarya’s break-up, Himani Shivpuri said, “It didn’t work out. They will know best what the problem was between them.” The actress also recalled, “She recalled an incident when Salman and Aishwarya were in the middle of a huge fight and she tried to calm him down. I remember once we were shooting in Film City. Aishwarya was shooting with Abhishek for Rohan Sippy’s film and Salman had come. He was telling me, ‘Kya hai? Isko samjhao. Waheeda Rehman ko dekhe. Apne aap ko boht khubsurat samajhti hai (You make her understand. She thinks she is pretty. Ask her to look at Waheeda Rehman.)’ I used to tell him to calm down, to stay quiet.”
