In August 2025, Guru Randhawa—known for hits like Lahore and High Rated Gabru—found himself embroiled in a controversy. His intended flashy music video, Azul, caused controversy because it was said to 'sexualize schoolgirls' and depict a disturbing fantasy.

Guru Randhawa portrayed a photographer who went into an all-girls school to click a class photo in the music video. What may have been a straightforward, humorous situation became controversial on the internet as a 'sexualized, pornographic' portrayal of children.

Many social media users and advocates for women's rights criticised Guru Randhawa's music video, claiming that despite the fact that the female cast is composed of adults, they were purposefully portrayed as young schoolgirls, normalising harassment and contributing to the culture of sexualising kids.

A user wrote, "So a middle-aged man came to school and was instantly attracted to a school girl, and it's romanticised??"

Another user stated, "This is the first thing that shocked me when I saw the music video. It’s 2025, and ppl still don’t under the implications of such things floating around on social media. Literally, school kids are consuming this message that sexualizing school girls is okay!"

A third user said, "Finally, this issue is being raised. It’s prevalent in Bollywood too, and needs to be talked about. We tend to underestimate the impact it has on kids and the youth."

A fourth user wrote, "Guru Randhawa's new music video is disgusting. A grown ass man is instantly attracted to a schoolgirl, and this is romanticised??? Since when did we normalise pedo behaviour."
