Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband Sunjay Kapur passed away in England at the age of 53. He reportedly had a heart attack after swalloing a bee during a polo match in UK. For the unversed, their marriage was a well-publicised event in 2003. The couple had a 20 year old daughter, Samaira and their 15-year old son, Kiaan. Nevertheless, they split up in 2014.

Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur's divorce was finalised in 2016 following an extended court battle. He was referred to as a 'third-class man' in an interview Karisma Kapoor's actor father, Randhir Kapoor. The businessman's death has caused the 2016 interview to reappear and gain momentum again.

Karisma's father, Randhir Kapoor, was questioned about his daughter's desire to remarry. There were many rumours at the time regarding her relationship with Sandeep Toshniwal. Spesking to DNA at the time, he revealed that she was happy and satisfied. He went on to share that although he had not talked to his daughter about marital matters, he would undoubtedly grant her his blessings if she ever wanted to get married. 

Randhir Kapoor said, "I think Lolo (Karisma) is very well settled and happy. I have never discussed the issue of marriage with her but if she does plan to, she will always have my blessings. But I don't think she wants to get married. She is a happy mother and if she wants, she can get married any time but there is no step in that direction right now. She is happy the way she is."

Randhir Kapoor On Karisma's Ex Husband Sunjay Kapur

Randhir Kapoor was asked about his then-estranged son-in-law back in 2016 during the divorce proceedings between Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur. The veteran actor stated that he never intended for his daughter to marry Sunjay in an interview with the Hindustan Times. They didn't need his money, he added, labeling him 'third class'. He also claimed that Sunjay had cheated on Karisma and didn't care about her.

His exact words were - "Sunjay is a third-class man... Everyone knows our ­credentials. We are Kapoors. We don't need to run after anyone's money. We have been blessed with not only money, but also our talent... (It) can support us for the rest of our lives."

Following the split, Karisma Kapoor gave her full attention to raising her kids before easing back into acting with a few jobs here and there. Sunjay Kapur, on the other hand, married Priya Sachdev in 2018 and became a father yet again with the arrival of their son, Azarius.
