Why Shraddha Kapoor Waited Over 2 Years After Stree 2? Know How Eetha Became Her Next Big-Screen Choice

Shraddha Kapoor revealed that she received many lucrative offers after Stree 2's success. She could have easily capitalised on the blockbuster’s success, but she waited before signing another commercial entertainer. In her Instagram Ask Me Anything session, she revealed that she was waiting for a story she genuinely connected with. Now, after more than two years, Shraddha will be seen in Eetha.

Why Did Shraddha Kapoor Reject Movies After Stree 2?

When her follower asked for advice on navigating a career, Shraddha used her own experience to answer the question. She asked to be patient like her rather than rushing into other projects. 

"After Stree 2, I was offered a lot of films and money as well, but I had decided that until I get that perfect story, I won't sign anything. My heart said that I would have to keep that patience, and I did that," she said.

Shraddha also acknowledged that waiting for the right story was not easy, especially when she wanted to return to work. However, she said she now feels proud of the decision.

"Of course it gets difficult to wait for something you really want, but right now I feel proud that I decided to wait. So I would say listen to that voice in your heart; sometimes it becomes difficult, but it's totally worth it," Shraddha added.

Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 starred Rajkummar Rao alongside Shraddha, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee. The film collected approximately ₹857 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk.

Why Did Shraddha Kapoor Choose Eetha As Her Next Film?

After waiting for almost two years, Shraddha was offered Eetha, a musical drama directed by Laxman Utekar. The movie is based on the life of Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, who was one of the most famous Tamasha and Lavani performers in Maharashtra. 

She felt the instant connection she spoke about.

At the Eetha trailer launch event, Shraddha spoke about her connection with the character and the excitement of discovering a new genre she had not explored before. 

She said, "It's a story about a woman whose art, courage and individuality make her unforgettable. The more Laxman sir told me about the character, the more I felt connected to her world."

Unlike the popular horror-comedy franchise and commercial entertainer, Shraddha is playing the character Bhau Mang. 

Director Laxman Utekar clarified that Eetha is not a direct biopic. The movie draws inspiration from the incidents documented in the Marathi book Tamasha: Vithabaichya Ayushyache. 

Shraddha also explained that the story extends beyond one performer. "As he said, this is not just Vithabai's story. It is a story of all those Tamasha artists, thousands of them," she said.
