Alia Bhatt, who has been working on multiple projects like YRF’s spy thriller Alpha and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War, is reportedly in talks with Dinesh Vijan to headline Chamunda. The film is part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, which is set to be directed by Amar Kaushik. After a lot of buzz about Alia being the new addition to the horror comedy universe and Chamunda, Amar Kaushik addressed the rumours. The filmmaker, in his statement, has not admitted or denied the speculation. Rather, he said that the production never writes a script based on the cast.
While speaking to Filmfare, Amar Kaushik addressed the speculations about Alia Bhatt’s inclusion in MHCU and said, “When it happens, everyone will know. I am not denying or accepting anything right now. Everything is on the timeline. We only focus on the story and think about the casting later. We don’t write the script or story based on the cast. Thankfully, that does not happen here.”
The filmmaker continued, “The audience can expect the bar will go up. We will try to take the bar up. We are making these for the audience, for the fans, for the public. If we make a mistake and don’t do it right, please tell us via Instagram or any other platform. Just pray for us. We will try to give you the best. We don’t want to be polluted. We want to be honest and make a film that is honest, like we did with our first film (Stree). This is what I want from the audience. We give them what they want.”

Earlier, a report by Pinkvilla claimed that Alia Bhatt is excited to partner with Maddock on this film. A source then told the portal, “Alia has always discussed multiple feature films with Dinesh Vijan and is now on the verge of collaborating with the producer. The actress has loved a psychological supernatural thriller, which could be her next after Love And War for the big screen. The talks are on, and things are expected to be on paper by the first quarter of 2025.”
