‘You Look Like My Maid’: Celina Jaitly’s Lawyer Reveals Disturbing Details Of Alleged Cruelty By Peter Haag

Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has announced her divorce from her husband, Peter Haag and has filed a domestic violence complaint against him. She has accused him of cruelty and manipulation, seeking compensation of Rs 50 crores for the loss she suffered during their marriage. The actress' case is being represented by the law firm Karanjawala & Co. The case was registered on Tuesday before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Andheri court in Mumbai. Amid this, Celina's lawyer, Niharika Karanjawala Misra, shared the reason behind the actress filing this case against her husband, alleging cruelty by Peter Haag.

Celina Jaitly married Peter Haag in 2011. The couple welcomed twins, Winset and Viraaj, in 2012. In 2017, she was again blessed with twins, but tragically, her one child, Shamsher Jaitly Haag, passed away shortly after birth due to a heart condition. Celina's lawyer Niharika, claimed that during this time, Peter Haag manipulated her in an attempt to inherit her Mumbai property.

Confirming that it's a domestic violence case, Celina's lawyer told Hindustan Times, "There's been a prolonged amount of emotional and physical cruelty, manipulation and coercion in their marriage. Also a lot of financial control and isolating her to a great extent from a lot of people that especially happened after her parents passed away in 2017. When she was going through a particularly hard time emotionally in 2017, following the death of both her parents and one of her children, she went through a period of grief-related depression. Peter used that in order to coerce and manipulate her into transferring her Mumbai property to him via gift deed. So, this sort of behaviour had continued at length through their marriage, and eventually it came to a point where it got too much and she had to come away and fight."

Niharika also claimed that Celina expressed “physical abuse” during her marriage. She stated, "He threatened her repeatedly. He treated her with tremendous cruelty, and would tell her things when they were out like, ‘you look like my maid’ and ‘people would think I'm out walking with the help’. He would threaten her with things like, ‘I'll disfigure your face’. It was a very difficult sort of marriage."

Celina has also filed a case for the custody of her children, who are with Peter in Austria at the moment.

After filing case against her husband, Celina shared a long post on her Instagram handle. Excerpt from her post read, "Life stripped everything away. People I trusted walked away. Celina expressed her feelings on social media, opening up about the turbulent phase she has been going through.
