Ed Geing's disturbing obsession with his mother Augusta, who has been torturing him due to her failed marriage, is the main cause of him turning into a monster. Also, his difficulty in forming relationships with women and the wierd obsession of his girlfriend Adeline with the dreadful imagery, change Ed's mindset, thinking that there is no harm in killing women, which is obviously sick. For the unversed, Ed is also suffering from undiagnosed schizophrenia which might be the reason of his psychic acts.

From the beginning itself, the show ignores the mysogyny, rather it tries to sympathise Gein's horrifying murders due to his mental state. So, there is noone to blame as the show portrays Gein more as a victim than a villain. Isn't it sick? Gein is shown as someone trapped by his own confusing desires (sometimes he is dressed in a lingerie, while other days he is desiring to settle down with his girlfriend) and pushed over the edge by external circumstances, especially his abusive mother.

However, the show looks visually perfect. We have seen stories about serial killers before, but this one deserves slow claps. Sometimes it’s subtle, sometimes very graphic, but what adds value is that the creators manage to show the horrors of real life with great depth.
