Retro OTT Release: Even while moviegoers are swarming theaters this week, many are eagerly anticipating when they will be able to watch Retro on Netflix. Suriya and Pooja Hegde starrer Tamil romantic action movie opened in theaters on May 1.

Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is a genre-bending movie that has the moviegoers talking. Suriya, who is renowned for her ability to swing between dramatic and action-packed scenes with ease, is working with Pooja Hegde for the first time, and their collaboration is drawing attention, for all the right reasons!

Retro OTT Release

Retro is reportedly scheduled for the first week of June 2025, and the digital rights have been officially acquired by the streaming behemoth Netflix. The streaming behemoth even cheekily hinted at the Tamil movie's explosive emotional core in a preview post on X (previously Twitter). "A man’s love can move mountains, but his rage? That’s Retro! Retro, coming to Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada after its theatrical release!" read the caption.

With streaming options in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, the movie will be accessible to viewers throughout South India and beyond. With a Santhosh Narayanan-composed soundtrack and an impressive ensemble that includes Jayaram and Joju George, Retro is generating a lot of buzz.

However, no official confirmation regarding the Tamil movie's digital has been revealed.

Karthik Subbaraj is the writer and director of Retro, which is his debut work with actor Suriya. Joju George, Jayaram, Karunas, Nasser and other notable actors also play significant roles in the Tamil movie, Retro. With music by Santhosh Narayanan, the movie is produced by Suriya and Jyotika under the banner of 2D Entertainment. 

The main character of Retro is Paari Vel, a gangster's adopted kid who hates him. Paari is chosen to defend his ancestors, who now reside on an island under dictatorial rule, when he decides to abandon the violent traditions of the past in order to wed his girlfriend and is dragged back into them. The Tamil movie opened to mixed reviews when it first came out, alongside Nani led actioner HIT 3.
