South Korean actor Choi Woo Shik, known for his roles in films like Parasite, has recently shared a candid look at his personal life during an appearance on the BDNS YouTube channel. While gearing up for his upcoming Kdrama Melo Movie, Choi revealed that he has been feeling a sense of emptiness and has struggled to find new hobbies, something that was once a vital part of his active lifestyle.

In a talk with host Moon Sang Hoon on February 3, 2025, Choi admitted that he has been unable to engage in his usual outdoor activities such as fishing, cycling, swimming and camping. These hobbies, which he enjoyed since childhood, now feel out of reach. He explained that his free time has become less fulfilling and the pressure to force himself into a hobby has been overwhelming.

Choi further opened up about his current emotional state, describing his life as feeling "gray" and "empty." However, he sees this blank feeling in a positive light, as it helps him fully immerse himself in the characters he portrays. By not locking himself into a specific identity, he believes he can better embody the unique energy of each role he plays. Additionally, Choi mentioned that he refrains from cutting his hair when not filming, unsure of what image he will need for a future project.

Despite these personal struggles, Choi Woo Shik is excited about his upcoming role in Melo Movie, a romantic drama that explores love, personal growth, and healing. The show, which is set to premiere on February 14, 2025 on Netflix is penned by Lee Na Eun (known for Our Beloved Summer) and directed by Oh Choong Hwan, the mind behind hits like Big Mouth and Start-Up. In Melo Movie, Choi stars alongside Park Bo Young, and the series follows thirty-somethings dealing with their dreams, insecurities and the struggles of navigating love.
