Top Kdramas August 2024: In the fourth week of August, the Korean entertainment industry witnessed a significant shift in audience attention, with multiple Kdramas making their mark on various platforms. Kim Minha and Lee Min Ho's Pachinko Season 2 particularly grabbed attention as it climbed the Buzzworthy Kdrama chart following its highly anticipated premiere on Apple TV+ on August 23.
SBS' drama Good Partner, which has captivated viewers since its July premiere, continues to increase in popularity. Despite starting with modest nationwide ratings of 7.8% according to Nielsen Korea, the drama saw a surge in its viewership towards the end of August, achieving personal-best ratings of 17.7% on August 17 and 17.2% on August 24. This consistent rise in ratings has solidified Good Partner's position as a top contender in domestic Korean television.

While Good Partner triumphed on the Kdrama buzzworthiness chart, tvN's Love Next Door made its presence felt with a strong performance on the actors' list. Jung Hae In and Jung So Min, the lead actors of Love Next Door, secured the top two spots on the performers' rankings released by Good Data Corporation's FUNdex on August 27. Despite Good Partner dominating the buzzworthiness chart, with six of its actors featured in the top 10, Jung Hae In and Jung So Min's performances in Love Next Door have clearly resonated with viewers, keeping them at the forefront of audience discussions.

The week also saw new Kdrama premieres entering the buzzworthiness chart. The Tyrant, starring Kim Seon Ho, made an impressive debut at #5 last week but slipped to #7 in the most recent rankings. Additionally, Netflix's suspense thriller The Frog, featuring Go Min Si and EXO's Chanyeol, made a stunning debut at #3, showcasing the growing interest in the show since its August 23 premiere.
Another notable debut was tvN's rom-com No Gain No Love, led by Shin Min A and Kim Young Dae. The show, which premiered on August 26, secured the ninth spot on the TV-OTT panel and continued to climb the buzzworthiness ranks even before its official release.
Netflix's Global Top 10: Kdramas Reign Supreme
Korean dramas continued to dominate Netflix's Global Top 10 TV (Non-English) rankings from August 19 to August 25. Love Next Door extended its two-week streak in the Top 10, securing the #2 spot with three million views. The Frog followed closely at #4, amassing two million views in its debut week. Romance in the House, another popular title, claimed the fifth spot with 1.8 million views, marking its third consecutive week on the global list. Meanwhile, the variety series I Am Solo Part 21-22 garnered 900,000 views in its first week, rounding out the list of Korean shows making waves on Netflix.
