In an interview with Filmfare, Jitnendra Kumar, who is seen as Abhishek Tripathi in the show, talked about the similarities between his character in 'Panchayat' and Shah Rukh Khan's Mohan Bhargav in 'Swades'.

He said, "In Season 1, the writer added that punch about my friend calling me Mohan Bhargav. But nothing more than that. Abhishek Tripathi of the Panchayat did not have any interest in village life like Shah Rukh’s character, who wanted to do something good for his village. Abhishek also did not have any motivation to teach there, so there were no comparisons. But in Season 2, he does start having some thoughts about it as he gets more emotionally involved with the village and the people."

'Panchayat Season 3' will release on Prime Video on May 28.
