Pankaj Udhas Death: The renowned ghazal and playback singer breathed his last on Monday (February 26). His family confirmed his passing, attributing it to a prolonged illness. Pankaj was most acclaimed for his rendition of unforgettable tracks like 'Chitthi Aayi Hai' from Mahesh Bhatt's 1986 crime thriller 'Naam.' He was born on May 17, 1951, in Gujarat, into a family deeply rooted in music. Growing up surrounded by musicians, including his father, Manohar Udhas, a renowned Gujarati folk singer, and his elder brother Nirmal Udhas, a well-known ghazal singer, Pankaj was immersed in music from an early age.
His journey in music began in the early 1970s when he started singing for All India Radio. However, it was his debut album 'Aahat' in 1980 that catapulted him to fame. The album's instant success established Pankaj Udhas as a promising ghazal singer of his era. Subsequently, he released numerous albums, captivating audiences with his soulful and emotive renditions.
